Playstation 3 Hard Drive Disk?

May be...
  • So if I send my PS3 to Sony to get it fixed, do I also have to send the HDD? and......

1.) If I do send the HDD along with the PS3, will I still have ALL of my data and stuff when I get it back?

2.)If I don't send the HDD with the PS3, will everything be the same as b4 I sent the PS3 (besides a new/fixed console), when I put the HDD back in? Will I have all my downloads and saves and files?
  • Dude, just order an external hard drive right now so you don't have to worry if you're gonna lose all your data.

But since you asked, yes you need to send the hard drive or Sony may refuse to fix it for you. Plus the hard drive could be the problem. Whether you still have your data or not depends on what problems the PS3 has. Sometimes they fix your PS3, sometimes they send you a refurbished one.

Second question doesn't apply as Sony would probably tell you to go screw yourself for not sending the hard drive. Also, the hard drive is "married" to the PS3 it was in so you won't be able to access the data on any other PS3 anyway. It would force you to format it and delete everything.

Again, just go and buy an external hard drive and this will never, ever be a problem. At the most $40 on Ebay will get you a 120 GB one.
  • backup your data...and you can call sony and ask them if you need to include the HD
