What is the difference between the 40g and 80g ps3?
May be...
is the amount of gigabytes important?? i would prefer the 60g so i can watch normal dvds and play ps2 games but they arent around no more.
so if i just want gaming and to watch normal films if possible (not really into online gaming) then what one would be best?? or is it a case of how much memory you can store? im confused :S40GB and new 80GB are pretty much the same (they can't play PS2 games, another guy is wrong). The difference is only in HDD space. BTW, you can always replace PS3's HDD with a larger one (must be 2,5" SATA 5400 RPM). And you can watch normal DVDs on all PS3 versions.you best bet would be the 40Gb cheaper and can play DvDs and i think it can play PS2 games i dont know even though i do have one.it is just how much memory it has and you want a 40gthe size of the HDD (hard drive) is only an issue if you're saving a lot of stuff onto it...e.g. photos, music, videos etc and if you have LOADS of games (even 20GB will take a long time to fill up with just saves). there is no problem with having a small HDD when playing a DVD (Blu-Ray or normal) as it's not affected.
only the original 60GB, 20GB and 80GB consoles have backward compatibility, the newer 40GB, 80GB and 160GB don't
p.s. the new 40GB and 80GB have no difference other than the size of the HDD, Sony decided to just start producing the same console with a bigger HDD
