Does Playstation sell PSP games now without the disks? Do you have to download them? Will it be every game?

May be...
  • I bought a PSP game earlier, and the cashier told me that Playstation will be selling games without the disks. Is this true?? If so, it was much easier with the disk! I want to complain!
  • the cashier is correct soon all games that are sold as umd's will be made as a digital copy available on the playstation store... the reason why they are doing this is because of the new psp GO! coming out later this year. This will be have 16gb internal memory... typically a game runs from 200mb-1gb. Which means you can store about 16gbs worth of games, photos and videos!

the guy above me barely does any research there are many games available on the playstation store that are full such as killzone, patapon 2 and MANY ps1 games!!!

if you have anymore questions you can email or IM me at:

  • he is talking about the new PSP GO! its not going to play actual UMD's its gonna allow you to buy full games off of Playstation NEtwork and just play it from there without the trouble of switching the umd's but their still gonna make umd's for the psp 1000 2000 and 3000
  • No, the only game that is a digital only game is Patapon 2 which is a "test" game. Like they are testing the sales and the feedback. Beginning Oct 1, all games are required to be UMD and digital download.

So no UMD is not going away (atleast anytime soon)
  • yes it is correct you would be able to just download them from the psn store but they will still sell the games in USB form so you don't have to worry about it man
