Help my ps3 is blinking red then for half a second yellow then turns off what do i do?

May be...
  • It's a growing phenomena in the original PS3's, yellow light of death. most likely the unit is dead (could be a faulty hard drive, power supply etc). You can send it in to Sony for $150 if it's past your 1 year warranty, I'm pretty positive they'll give you a refurbished one, a system that was previously sent in, fixed, and delivered to you as a replacement. So yes, your PS3 will go to someone else. You can buy a new one, or the new slim with a release date spanning from July to September. If you have the 20gb, 60gb, and the first 80gb model, every other model out there is a downgrade.
  • Mine did it too, wouldn't cut on at all. Contact Sony. if it's like mine, you'll have to send it back. If you don't have a warranty or if it's expired, it'll cost $150 to get it fixed.
  • overheated and we call it the YLOD yellow light of death let it cool for a whole day as in 24 hours and turn it on if it doesent work it died if it does buy a ps3 system cooler
  • It overheated leave it off for a couple of hours. If it doesn't turn on after that you ps3 is dead :(
