I'm frequently Getting "Connection Interrupted" On CoD4 PS3?

May be...
  • Hey, Whenever i play CoD4 on the PS3 i usually get "connection interrupted" and then it kicks me out. Its really annoying! I'm using wireless internet conection and my router is Linksys WRT54GS and the signal is medium. My room is located pretty far from the router so is there anyway to increase my connection. how do I forward a port on the PS3? Do I have to set my Firewall (F secure) to let something through? Any suggestions, ideas are greatly appreciated! Thx

  • It is NOT something you have to deal with. I get it very little, but my network is very well put together and there is zero interference. In fact I have had "Connection Interrupted" in COD4 twice that I can remember and four or five times in CODw@w. I never get disconnected in any other game.

Go into your Router's settings screen and set the IP for the PS3 into the DMZ of the router. This will stop the router from firewalling the ports required and reduce interference at your end.

Next, try to move the thing closer. Every obstruction reduces the signal dramatically, and interference from microwaves and cordless phones hinder is reception. (Get the DECT 6.0 phones and they do not interfere at all)

Also bear in mind who you are playing with. Sometimes there is someone in there that has the weakest possible connection and they mess everyone else up with server timeouts and whatnot.

EDIT: Did you know your router is capable of load-balancing? It has an 8MB buffer, but most, if not all, other routers utilize a maximum of 4. This means it can store some data, control the flow out to the connected devices, and help reduce lag. The WRT54GS also has a speed booster on board that may help if you adjust settings.
  • Same happens to me. It just something you have to deal with. I have the same router and mines wireless. Sometimes you just can't get a connection with the host or router for a moment.

    Sorry dude.
  • Try another game. This happens quite a few times, and it's happened to me on both, CoD4, and w@w. My guess is that your other games should be fine.
