The PS3 is normally pretty smart about outputs when it auto detects the settings, though you can change it in the XMB under display settings.

How do i turn call of duty 4 for the PS3 from 720p to 1080p. i have HD TV and HDMI cable?
May be...
i click on my TV to cheack what HD thing it is and it says 720p but i want it to be 1080p. so how would i do that?? It seems that COD 4 likes to default to 720p. You can go to the DISPLAY OPTIONS menu within the PS3 and uncheck the 720p box and force the PS3 to go to 1080p I did that and have no other issues with it since. can't. it's not your tv, mine does the same thing. it's the game itself. most of the games made for the ps3 are only 720p. so far i found that Lair was one of the few that was made for 1080p.....maybe ninja gaiden too, if i'm not mistaken. it's the company that makes the games. because the same games on the 360 can get 1080p.....but not on the ps3 Is your TV 1080p, or can it just accept 1080p signals? If it's 720p displayed, then forcing the PS3 to send 1080p signals will just result in worse quality for gaming, since your TV then has to downscale it back to 720p to display.
