It is like an ipod for your TV, so can store and play music, videos, demos, and has an online store where you can get lots of bits, as well as being able to upload from Memory cards etc.
It is possible to upload other operating systems, like Linux which is a freeware operating system (as opsed to Windows, which is a company owned one - Freeware means everything is free, made by a collective of programmers sharing information). Once you have Linux installed, it runs as a PC, and you can download things like Gnash, which is the Freeware version of Flash. It is not the same as Windows - in some ways better, as it's free to upgrade, but probably not as convenient. I would expect there may be hiccups installing PC games onto a Linux playstation, but may be completely wrong.
You will not be able to install PC games onto your PS3 because Sony has their own menu and software that is installed onto the PS3. The PS3 has their own online store where you can download playable demo games as well as movie trailers.
The only operating system that works on the playstation 3 that people have installed is Linux.
2. Yes, you can view DVD's that are in your region since DVD are region coded. Also, you can play almost any type of disk. CD, DVD, PS1, PS2, PS3, Blu Ray etc.
3. Yes you can browse the net. It's free, and cool. It supports flash so you can go to youtube and watch videos and stuff. But I dont really like it. HOWEVER, you can plug in a keyboard and mouse, so you can browse the web, or the PS3 with them. You can use the mouse to move, and the keyboard to type on the browser and to friends and such. i use it for AIM. ;O
4. No, you cant install PC games. BUT if you install Linux, then you can because Linux is an operating system; OS.
