  • All PS3 versions play PS1 games. As for ripping - PS3 is too well protected.
  • PS3's used to be 'backwards compatible' The new versions can not play them anymore. Unless you can find the 80gig version, you can not play PS1 and PS2 games. Ripping games is easy, using Alcohol120 or another ripping software. You still would need to 'mod' your PS3. There are people and companies that can mod your PS3 for you. Just search for 'mod chips for PS3' in a search engine such as Yahoo.
  • You cant rip them. If you have the original disk, you can play from that. Otherwise, the PS Store has several games available for download for like $4.99-$6.99 each. Once you download them, you play them directly off the HDD. Maybe that's what you meant?
  • Yes, you can play PS1 games on the PS3. The PS1 games work on all the models. As for ripping, i don;t think you can as there are no current emulators for the PS1!
  • only the first 60g and anything above can play ps1 and ps2 games the 40g cannot
