I have a 40gb american (120V) PS3 but I am currently in China. is it safe to plug it withou an transformer?

May be...
  • do i use a transformer, an adptor or what?
  • Read the small inscriptions in the back of your console near where you plug in the power cord. If it says "Input: 120V - 240V" then you don't need a transformer. That means it is autovolt. If it doesn't say so then you need a stup-down transformer (220V to 110V). But be sure to have a surge protector between the transformer and your PS3 console. PS3 is much like a PC. It needs protection from power surge.

    Happy Gaming!
  • you'll also have to select the PAL video setting instead of the NTSC setting... if your tv is from china as well.
  • You need to ask somebody what the supply voltage is first. If it is 240v you could fry it.
  • transformer because there they use 220V it will blow you ps3
