I have a 40gb american (120V) PS3 but I am currently in China. is it safe to plug it withou an transformer?
May be...
do i use a transformer, an adptor or what? Read the small inscriptions in the back of your console near where you plug in the power cord. If it says "Input: 120V - 240V" then you don't need a transformer. That means it is autovolt. If it doesn't say so then you need a stup-down transformer (220V to 110V). But be sure to have a surge protector between the transformer and your PS3 console. PS3 is much like a PC. It needs protection from power surge.
Happy Gaming! you'll also have to select the PAL video setting instead of the NTSC setting... if your tv is from china as well. You need to ask somebody what the supply voltage is first. If it is 240v you could fry it. transformer because there they use 220V it will blow you ps3
