Some playstation 3 advice?

Well, I recently lost my mind and am buying my boyfriend a playstation 3 for his bday. The only problem is that I'm a little clueless about these things. I am going to buy the console, a remote(because we will replace our DVD player with it), and an extra controller. My question is: do I need anything else? Are there any cables or wires that I need to buy to hook it up to our TV? Thanks

First of all i would like to say good choice on buying him a PS3. I'm proud of you.

Second of all please dont waist your money on a remote, the controller it comes with is just fine. And also you should get him another ps3 controller.

Third of all you need to get him a Blue ray movie. One that he would like of course. Or you can get him a game.

Call of Duty:Modern Warfare-this is a shooter game

Madden NFL 09- This is a popular football game

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution-This is a stratigy game

Gran Turismo 5-this is a street racing game

Motor Storm,or Pure-are both good motocross type games.



Personaly i would want a game before i got a blue ray movie. Also if you buy an HDMI cord buy it off of buy.com otherwise you have to buy an overpriced cord at retail stores. ex. Bestbuy HDMI cord-$50

PS3 comes with the composite cable to hook up on TV. If you have HDTV, maybe later you could buy and upgrade to HDMI cable to replace the composite cable. Don't buy a remote yet. You could use the controllers. Maybe you just need to buy and extra controller if you want to play with him. Word of advice, since you don't have a clue about this, if someone sells you a 40GB for $399, don't take it. The new 80GB version is also $399.

Blockbuster sells the 40GB for $399 but it comes with 1 month unlimited free game rental and I think either an extra controller or a remote. It's s good deal considering that you still don't know what games your BF wants. He can go and choose at Blockbuster.

get him the 80GB, the dvd remote is useless really the controller for the system works just fine. get him a blu ray movie and a good game. if he has a HDTV get him the hdmi cable or if he has a Fairly new tv with S-Video get him the S-video cables.

All the cables come with the system. If you want to play high def you need a HDMI cable which are not that hard to find.

Get him the 400$ 80 gb ps3. It should include everything you need. If hes using an hdtv you have to buy a hdmi cord. Any one will be fine.
