What could be wrong with Playstation 2?

May be...

My daughtors PS2 will play PS1 games, but when she tries to play PS2 games, it says disk read error.



Any ideas what could be wrong?

Oh boy, the infamous "Disc Read Error" strikes again.

What you could do is send it back to Sony so they can fix it for you, at a cost of course.

Or you could follow this guide I found online. My PS2 would barely read any clean discs, and now it reads CD's (something it hadn't done since 2003). As long as you're not afraid to void your [presumably] expired warranty and you follow every direction down to the letter, you'll be fine. However, it only works on the fat PS2's, so if you're running a slim line (which is doubtful), it won't work for you.
