any other up coming PS3's - NO
all PS3's play PS1 games.
and there is no such thing as a 120GB PS3. that's Xbox 360.
The 80GB (the one that has 4 USB ports from the Metal Gear Solid 4 and Motorstorm bundles) has reduced PS2 compatibility (about 70% of PS2 games will play properly).
The 20 and 60GB have about 97% of PS2 compatibility.
Here is the compatibility list for PS2 games on the backwards compatible models.

If you get a 20gb, 60gb, or 80gb, it will play PS2 games.
The 120gb, and 40gb will not play them.
But now it gets even more confusing. Sony released a different 80gb PS3 that doesn't play PS2 games. So now the only way to tell is to look at the box. At the fine print on the side of the box it will tell you if it can or not.
Shame-the Wii costs half the amount of a PS3 and you can play Nintendo games on it from all the way back to the original NES which was made back in the 80s up to todays games with no problems.
Glad i bought a Wii!
Most of the new Playstion 3's arent.
All the 60GB Ps3's that have it.
So depends which one u have.
there's like a more expensive one or something where you can. look on the site or youtube or w/e
