Is 2009 the year of the ps3?

will ps3 finally out sell the xbox? i mean look at the crazy exclusives ps3 has recently. Killzone, God of War 3, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet. Xbox has nothing on the ps3 so far. i mean seriously halo wars? how many people like real time strategy games? halo wars is a bust.. I believe 2009 is the year of the PS3!

From a software standpoint PS3 had a better exclusive lineup tha 360 in 2008 and will again in 2009.



PS3 was also well ahead of 360 in 08 until 360 dropped the Arcade version to $200 bucks which enabled 360 to draw even with PS3 for 2008 hardware sales.



Ps3's exclusive lineup for 2009 will once again be better than 360's. It started Friday with the release of Killzone 2. After all the hype around that game it is amazing that KZ2 lives up to it all and blows you away. I love COD4 and COD5 but after playing KZ2 all weekend I feel like COD4 and Cod5 are second rate when I compare them to KZ2.



Plus with Uncharted 2, God of War 3 (probably a March 2010 release), Heavy Rain, Infamous, MAG, Gran Turismo 5, Ratchet and Clank, MLB The Show, etc. all on the horizon PS3 is loaded with awesome games. Not to mention all the multiplatforms that come out for both systems.



I also believe that the growth of Blu Ray and downloadable media will only strengthen consumers to buying PS3s. Sony did it with DVD and its like a repeat of histroy with Blu Ray. Criticize them all you want for making expensive electronics but Sony always seems to nail it with forseeing the future of electronics and building those features into their products.



I think 2009 will be a great year for PS3 and Blu Ray. Especially if they do the rumored price drop!

Well many people thought 2007 and 2008 was going to be the year of the PS3 and it didn't pan out ! I think the PS3 is a bust and it's all Sony's fault ! While exclusives will sell a particular system, you still need games that are non exclusive to sell even more systems. The high price tag still hurts Sony's PS3 sales and they refuse at least until to now to drop the price.



Sony also shot themselves in the foot by removing BC from the PS3 ! When you have 148 million PS2's sold that means you have people who have huge PS2 game libraries and some people still enjoy playing those games.



The PS3 from design to finish has been a bust and a major marketing blunder by Sony and they refused to change their ways. If Sony wants to sell more PS3 consoles, they need to implement a price cut as soon as possible.



Everything Sony did right with the PS1 and PS2, they've done wrong with the PS3 !

Yes, actually it's the year for the PSP as well. Cause Assassin's Creed, Motorstorm, and other more games are coming out for the PSP.



I still don't think that it will out sell the 360 because the PS3's are still expensive. It might caught up to the 360's sales this year though.



Halo Wars was pretty good actually, but it's not better than Sid Meier's lol

but still it's a pretty good game.



I sure that there's a lot of people who likes real time strategy games.



To Phade3: Sony didn't shoot themselves for taking out the BC. It's actually a smart move if you think about it. ;)

It could be. It's been speculated that eventually the PS3 would surpass the 360 and this year could be the year. If God of War 3 comes out in 2009 (which it is expected to be), that would be a huge advantage.

Also, as a side note, I'm not going to buy Halo Wars but I do like real time strategy games. (:

Once the price drop happens this year (I believe) and God of War 3 is released I think it will.



Now they just need to revamp the PSN and add the Emotion Engine (which they won't do considering people are still buying PS2s)

yes the ps3 will be turning the tables this year with the new games coming out this year. sony is ahead with the ps3 and blu-ray.

Halo wars is awsome you just can't stratagise at those types of games
