Is there a specific cleaner to get for the Playstation 3?

I have a PS3 that keeps skipping on dvds and blu ray. It's been doing it for a little while and now it did it today on a brand new blu ray. Cleaned the disk off and it was still doing it. Is there a specific cleaner or do I need to just get one of those dvd cleaners at the store.

All PS3 disc games are on Blu-ray, so it doesn't matter if you watch movies on it or not. Playing games alone will wear out the mechanisms over time. I have had a PS2 since day one, had it in many vehicles, and it still plays CD's and DVD's with no problems. If your not going to watch movies to save the lens, you might as well not play disc based games either, as this will save the lens even more.



If you want to clean the lens, use a Blu-ray lens cleaner ( http://www.amazon.com/Maxell-BR-LC-Blu-r... ). A DVD lens cleaner will not clean the Blu-ray lens, but the above Blu-ray lens cleaner will clean all three lenses (CD, DVD, and Blu-ray).

This is why I never use my PS3 so much for watching movies. It's wearing the laser pretty fast. That's why I got a separate blu-ray and DVD player (actually the DVD player is mostly for sound coz it came with surround sound system).



But maybe it's not your PS3.. make sure you don't touch your discs on it's flat surface but only on the center or around it's edges. Fingerprints can also cause skipping.
