Ps3 component cables?

May be...
  • I bought ps3 component cables (sony brand) for my HDTV [no hdmi] Panasonic...but when I try to go over 480p, it doesn't show picture, but it does sound...please help!
  • Have you adjusted the PS3 to view higher than 480p? Component cables can view everything but 1080p, so go into your video settings on the PS3 and select everything but 1080p and you should be good to go (XMB > Settings > Display Settings > Video Output Settings). You can also do a video reset which will then allow you to reset for your new cables without doing it in the menu:

It may be necessary for you to change the Video Output Settings on the PLAYSTATION 3 in order to see a picture.

    Reset Video Output

If you are changing cables or cannot see an image on the screen, you may need to reset the video output to default settings. To reset the video output:

While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the PLAYSTATION 3 beeps twice (approximately 5 seconds), then release it.

The PLAYSTATION 3 will power up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).
  • 1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.

2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.

3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.
  • Yea your tv doesn't support 480p im guessing it won't support 1080p either cause no hdmi input your best options would be 720p and 1080i
