Can my ps3 connect to wi-fi from one floor away?

my playstation 3 is in my basement and i have a modum for wi-fi on my first floor. can it connect to the wi-fi from my basement? i have an adapter that i use for my computer to get on-line in the basement to strengthen the signal, if it doesnt auto connect could i use that?

Yes, your wireless router will send out a strong enough wi-fi signal that your PlayStation 3 can connect up to. Usually a wireless router sends out a signal that can be connected to by at least 25 feet away. Depending on how fast a connection your router sends out or how much of a range it has you might experiance laggy online play and slow download speeds off the PS Store. If you do you might try moving your PS3 as close as it can possibly be to your router.

most likely. its only one floor and i bet the ps3 has a strong wifi detector. I have a wireless router on my main floor and i can get a signal on my ipod touch from all the way down the street. so i bet a larger device can get a connection from 1 floor away.

it can connect from 30 floors away, it just depends on the signal from the adapter... and by the way, have fun

i tried to make an account but when filling in the address get told to use a valid address , even though I use an actual U.S street address of a distant cousin

is it because of my I,P address that it will not work ?

is there a way to do it somehow ?

To create a PSN account for another country you need to use an accurate and legit home address. You must not only have the right street adress, but zip code, city, and state. So, no it is not your I.P address that is keeping you from creating a United States PSN account.

make a new user account and then choose sign up for psn



then fill out all that info(ont forget to choose united states as your country) then once it gets to the city,zip code and adress just use a hotel address or a business one

There are two types of headsets that i am deciding between for my ps3. a logitech one that is supposed to be decent and is $40 or a sony one that is nicer for $50, what should i chose?

I think you should purchase the Official SONY Bluetooth headset. It has great sound quality. Most importantly, it comes with a stand to cradle it while you charge it, and it charges via usb. So you don't have to replace and buy batteries for it every couple weeks. Just charge it a couple minutes a week and your good to go. I have had this headset since January and have gotten great use out of it. Definatley worth the money. I highly recommend buying the Offical SONY headset.

I reccomend you buy the official Sony bluetooth headset. The sound quality is very good, it's very reliable, it just takes seconds to twin it with the PS3. It has a usb charging cradle, and I believe you can leave it in the cradle and use it like a mic if you want to.



It's a bit more money, but I'd say that it's worth it:)

.... yeah and you cant snipe on a psp LOL if the screen is too small why do you think they sell the cables to hook up to your tv from the psp for ppl like you who complain about it.

you may really find it difficult to find one because PSP has a screen too small for sniping.. I mean when you say sniping you are aiming for small "entities" from a great distance.. and I don't think the PSP's small screen is suitable for that. but make sure to check the youtube for the other guy's answer before buying it.

160Gb is not really necessary as with most game saves it will take you roughly longer than the system life to fill up the damned HD. But it's 499.99 Normally. Though you could save yourself 100$ for a game or 2 and get the 80gb version.

$500 is the price right now. But Sony is going to lower the price by $100 because the PS3s older brother is beating it. The Ps2 that is. SO you should see the Ps3 priced at $399 now instead of $499.

you dont need 160 gb, you can also buy a 80 gb and build in 250 gb for less money.

Ps3 hard to read text, will a hdmi cable make a difference?

I'm having a really really hard time seeing the text in many ps3 games and especially in the playstation store. Yes, I do wear glasses and even then I gotta stand in front of my t.v to see and it's pretty frustrating. I'm not sure if it's my settings that are off or if I need a hdmi cable. Any tips guys?

If you are using a Standard Definition TV, then game text is indeed one of the disadvantages of using the PS3 on an SD TV. You can try adjusting the TV's contrast, brightness, etc. This helps sometimes. Any HD connection, let alone HDMI, should sharpen up the text and make it easier to read.





EDIT: What is the connection being used? If you are using the standard A/V cables, then its still Standard Definition regardless what the TV type is as A/V only broadcasts in 480i, which is the American SD standard. The text can still look like crap. Obviously you aren't using HDMI (which you should be if you have an HD TV). If you're using component, then you should adjust the PS3 display settings or the TV display settings to make things more clear.

Yes, if you replace your current av cable with an HDMI cable than you will notice a huge difference in the two. The HDMI cord really brightens up, makes smaller, and clears up your picture. The text becomes smaller and more clear to read. It is a lot thinner and just everything looks, and sounds better with an HDMI cord compared to a standard av cable.



So yes, the HDMI cord will make a huge difference.

Yes, a hdmi cable makes a huge difference. I was playing on a regualr tv and couldn't see the print on the cell phone in GTAIV. I bought a hdmi cable because i couldn't take it anymore and as soon as I started playing again the picture was clear.



I was able to see a lot of small details that I had never noticed before. HDMI cables can be expensive but believe me, it works.

It's probably because of the size of your TV?

Because when I play my PS3 on my big sized TV I can read everything and when I play it on my small TV I cant see jack.



But yes, definitely, an HDMI cable does a HUGE difference. I recommend getting it off ebay. Its super cheap.

if you have an HDTV but not using component or HDMI then most likely that is your problem. Get a Cable they are super cheap dont get fooled by expensive ones they all do the same job TRUST ME!!
