im going to compare xbox with ps3 so it can help you choose if you want to buy a ps3 and read this it also says what features it has.. i wrote this btw.

To straight everyone the graphics on both console are pretty much the same when the game come out on both console only because game developers made it for the 360 and pretty much just slap it on a blue ray disc and put the ps3 logo on it, when a exclusive on a ps3 the graphics look awesome. Anyways the 360 does have the fail ratio which really sucks my brother in law has gone through 2 console in less than a year his first broke on him after a week then the second happen 3 months ago he got it last christmas. on PSN can you TALK while playing an online game?Yes if you are using a mic or a bluetooth. Not sure what your asking in exactly but if your asking if you can talk to someone while playing a match with them then yes games like madden you can't talk to someone who in the lobby until you get in to the actually match and then you are able to talk to him, while other game such as call of duty you can talk in the lobby while waiting for the match to start. Remember if someone doesn't have a mic you can talk but they won't respond.With a select few games yes, but I think Xbox Live has that part of the online experience figured out perfectly. PSN should take a page from that book. PSN has lots of flaws with the headset and mic situation.Yes! You just asked that!

can this be played on ps3 even though it's a ps2 game? is there a certain type of ps3 it can be played on? like does the ps3 need to have 80g or 40g or whatever?The only PS3's that play PS2 games are the 20gb, 60gb, and the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle 80gb. All of these models are currently out of production. You can find a used one on Ebay. The 40gb and the current 80gb and 160gb models are NOT backwards compatible. Backwards compatibility is a dead issue with the PS3 as far as Sony is concerned. They have lost too much money fitting PS3 machines with emotion software and PS2 emulators.The old 80gb or 60gb PS3 could play it, but they don't make them anymore. You can't buy a PS3 that plays ps2 games anymore. You could try to find a 60gb for sell by someone if you really want to play that game on the PS3.

Ps3 us far and away the best system I've ever seen and I'm 27 and have basically seen and owned every system since the Nintendo NES.
This machine does everything and its all built in. It has awesome games and some of the best exclusive games on the market (Metal Gear, Resistance, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword,) along with all the great multiplatform games that are out on all systems (Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, FarCry 2, Bioshock, Need for Speed, Burnout. Guitar Hero/Rock Band, Fallout, etc.).
The Ps3's built in Blu ray Player is AMAZING and since it is constantly connected to the internet it gets all the Blu Ray firmware updates it needs whenever they come out. Blu Ray is unreal. The Visuals and Sound are unmatched. Like another answerer said before, I really don't go to the movies anymore. I wait for something to come out on Blu Ray and then I watch it at home! It helps to have a great TV (I have a 46" Sony Bravia XBR) and surround sound.
The Ps3 also has an internet browser with an Adobe flash player built in so you can surf the Web too, without even leaving your living room. Add in the fact that you can use a mouse/wireless mouse and keyboard and the PS3 almost doubles as a computer all together!
You can store music, photos, and videos to it also and then play them back on your TV in Hi Def! Its a great way to entertain people when they come over for parties, just make a playlist of songs and a playlist of photos/videos and then push play and the Ps3 will do it all!
Not to mention free online gaming and PSN for free!
Plus its made by Sony so you know you are getting cutting edge, high end quality.
Everyone criticized Sony for CD gaming in PSone and then because of PSone Cd gaming became mainstream. Then everyone said Sony had overpriced the PS2 and that DVD movies and gaming would never make it and it would be the end of the PS2. Sony proved everyone wrong and whats even worse is that Nintendo and Microsoft just play follow the leader. Now Sony introduced Blu Ray and everyone is again saying its not necessary and nobody needs it. Well in two years Sony and Blu Ray have already killed HD-DVD and Blu Ray sales contiue to mulitply.
The bottom line is people can hate on the PS3 all they want and make bogus reasons why the Wii or 360 is better, but Ps3 is the best system on the market and all those haters probably would love to have a PS3. You pay for what you get and the Ps3 is top notch and the most complete piece of home entertainment hardware you'll ever need.
You have to own one to understand.No way. I got a launch PS3 and man this system is amazing. I remember going into Best Buy and someone saw me looking for some Blu-Rays and walked past me saying "Who the f*** needs Blu-Rays?" 2 years later, everyone is buying Blu-Rays and PS3s. People say why pay more for a movie when you can get it for $14? Come one now, if you haven't watched a Blu-Ray movie on a 42"+ LCD 1080p HDTV then don't even question it. I don't go to theaters that often now because of Blu-Rays. The quality in the theaters are horrible to me now. As for the gaming, yes it is lagging on selection but there is a reason why the companies take awhile for a game release; they want to make it as best as it can be before putting it out. They don't rush-and-release. If your looking for an all-in-one entertainment product, then the PS3 is for you.No. Great value with graphics and blu-ray. It's basically a computer inside a console. No it doesn't have an HDMI cable but you can pick those up for about $12, Yes you can control the PS3 XMB (not dashboard) with your PSP, though it is displayed on your PSP's screen.

I'm thinking of getting a PS3 soon, but the price has been stuck at around £300 for absolutely ages now and the 360 shot down in price recently - so you think there's any chance of a price-cut after Christmas?

You do NOT need an HDTV - you get the regular yellow, red and white cables to plug into your SD tv, and blu-rays & all games will work just fine. HD is an option.i think so far the price has dropped from $600 to $399, probably because they recently took out the backwards compatability. and no, you dont need an HD-TV, but an HD would make the picture much better, as that is one of the improvements they made from ps2 to ps3. but i would also reccomend using an old school T.V., as you would need the 2 or 3 plug holes--for the left audio, right audio, and picture. if your T.V. doesn't have those three plugs, then you could probably get an adapter that you hook up to your cable wire. my mother told me about that adapter, i'm not sure if she was being legit.I believe there will be a price drop soon on the PS3 i just don't know if it will be after this christmas. This is because the PS3 hasn't been out for as long as the 360. I know this question has been asked a lot. I tried looking for a more recent answer but could not find one. ok, Here's the question,
When will the patch be coming out so that you can play your own music during gameplay? I know how to already access the xmb bar during gameplay but when I try to play a song, it says the game doesn't support it or something like that. I've been reading forums that date back to Janurary that Sony was going to make some kind of firmware or patch so that it would allow ps3 gamers to play their own music during gameplay. It's now almost december, anyone know what the latest news is on this issue? There are going to be new games for the Ps3 and if you play Kingdom hearts you have to get it because Kingdom hearts 3 is going on there not the Ps2.

Ok. Right now i have a ps2 and a bunch of games for it. However the majority of mt friends all have 360s's and so id be able to play live with them. Im really unsure of which one to go for, so please help. Maybe some of you have both and would know which is better. Please help me decide which to get!os3 because the 360 will be obsolete in about 6 months and the ps3 can last 4 years. I know that it will go obsolete because then why would they come out with the elite if their system is better. As for your ps2 games just make sure you get the kind of PS3 that plays ps2 games so thet they dont go to waste. O ya I have not heard of any real good games coming out for the 360 and the ps3 has Resistance 2 Warhawk 2 Uncharted 2 Afrika and Blue ray so you can watch crystal clear movies. If the price is an issue consider that you will need almost 60$ a year for live while the ps3s is free, 160 for wifi which the ps3 comes with. With the 360 you will also get the red ring of Death since the 360 has a 66% seccess and the PS3 has a 99% success. Plus You can also ejoy motion decected controllers and every games is Blue ray making it crystal clear gaming. Dvsp0s3rYou can't find them brand new, the chip was discontinued last year, and replaced with software for the old 80GB which is now discontinued. Sorry to say Sony won't put the software in the system for you, your best bet is getting a PS2 at Game Stop, hell they might even have an 80GB w/ b\c in stockebay or get a ps2...yeah i agree with guy above ^^ just get a ps2. only other way is getting a 60gb off ebay,

Dont get conned into a 360 with the falling prices. after a year i got the ring of death and was told to go scratch by microsoft for replacing or fixing. its a joke to pay for xbox live where on the ps3 you can play online for free and save your money. graphics are way better,customer service way better,and much easier to connect to the internet, install updates ,etc. it will work with your pc as far as sharing media as well. ps3 is the way to go. im glad i bought mine today. quit being cheap and spend the money! its well worth it especially with the blue ray player alone.I agree. The only reason Microsoft did the recent price drops is because consumers are starting to realize (and TALKING about it) that they are getting ripped off. If you ask me, the Pro/Premium isn't even worth $200, much less $300.

I say 5 years because that's how long most people will keep their console. And BTW, another reason to get a PS3 is that it will last, and I heard there's a new Xbox coming out in 4-5years. Sony even said that they made the PS3 to last a decade. The multi-platform games are using about 25% of the PS3's graphical potential. So there's lots of wiggle room in the future. On the other hand, most multiplatform games are using about 98% of it's potential. And the look only slightly inferior on the PS3, if not much at all. And PS3 has a very good reliability rate: only 0.2% failure rate (note the decimal), while Xbox 360's have a 30% reliability rate. So, for every 1000 of both consoles produced, 2 PS3's are defective, whilst about 330 Xbox 360's are defective. The numbers speak for themselves.
Many game developers have openly stated that in the near future, they will use the PS3 as a lead developing platform, then port the games to the 360. It's just that right now, developers haven't got used to the PS3's very complex Cell Broadband Engine's complex and unique structure.

Call of duty 4: modern warfare or Call of duty: World at war? why?
I personally like them both the same. As there isn't much of a different gameplay wise.
I personally like the online better in COD: World At War. As you can send dogs into the fight if you get 7 kills in a row. And the dogs will kill anyone they see.
But in COD4, they have Helicopter support. Which is basically a Helicopter comes in and shoots people.
And in COD:WAW, you can earn a flame thrower. But in COD4, you only have basic guns.
In COD:WAW, you can plant mines in the ground.
So, the only main difference are the guns, the Dogs and the Helicopter, the Maps.
I like the Online Maps in COD4 better then the ones in COD:WAW. But they haven't released all of the maps yet. And COD4 already has them all out.
I would get COD:WAW as it is newer. Has a good story-line (Not as good as COD4)

Well I have connected my ethernet cable online to my computer. i dont have a dsl. and when i go to my playstation online it says no netwirk found. but when i go to network settings it has everything of my computer. everything is enabled. why cant i find out. please give reasonable answers.What your going to have to do is either buy you a router and connect your ps3 that way which I would highly recommend. But what it sound is like you have dial up. I know you don't have cable internet because most provide a modem and dsl does the same so if your using a dial up connection need to upgrade before your ps3 allows you to go online. sorry for not saying "yes"i thought the ethernet was only used for plugging a device into the broadband modem. My ps3 can turn on, and eject and accept disks, however when I turn it on there is no image on my television. I have a standard definition tv. But i tried it on my friends hd tv and it still didn't work. And sony will not fix it because my warranty has expired.maybe Geek Squad. Sony will fix it without the warranty. My PS3 recently lost all it's saved items. When I go into saved items, they're there but when i get into the game I can't load anything because nothing shows up. HELP?Maybe the data is corrupt. I've heard that PlayStation 3 could be getting a price cut in March next year can anyone confirm this? And if so is it worth waiting till March?It's quite possible.
They've already confirmed that there getting the new Cell chips in January, so that'll help reduce the cost of making the PS3, so it would only be wise to cut the cost for the consumer too. Same as when the 360 got the Falcon chips which led to Septembers price cut.
However Sony will have to deny it. Common business sense. Cos if they say "Yes It'll be cheaper in March" then folks will probably skip getting it at Xmas.
Also the rumour has stated the price cut is for SCEE territory( so Europe) so if you're in US don't hold on.

I've used the 360 controller for a year and I haven't had any cramps or pain in my hands in all that time, but after an hour of using the ps3 controller, both hands are cramped and sore. It's so disproportionate to adult hands that I can only assume that they designed it for the hands of children and asians.
Are there any 3rd party controllers that are similar to the 360 controller that have no problems working with the ps3?I personally prefer the Playstation controllers, purely because i have little hands and i find it hard to play properly with an Xbox controller due to the large size.
I agree with one of the above answers though, the cramps are probably due to swapping from a larger to a smaller controller.

In my opinion the Madcatz controller is most like the Xbox controller (out of those two) but its what you think you would find comfortable.The longer that you've played with a certain type of controller depends on which one you like better.

i go with what the person above saidSix-Axis is the type of controller, six-axis means that there is a motion sensor inside which detects 6 different directions of movement. The dualshock 3 controller also features six-axis.
Linux is an operating system which is really that good, there is an optimised version called "yellow dog" designed for the PS3. But if I were you I'd stick with the original operating system.
The original is much easier to use and looks better too. Yellow dog is a gimmick.

It's a closed beta. If Sony has not sent you an email with a code then that means you were not one of the chosen "guinea pigs" to use this beta. I have heard that you can't buy clothes yet or do major upgrades to your apartment. The open beta will be out in a few weeks, so it's not really a big deal. For now the Xbox is better that the PS3, but that is because the PS3 has not yet began using 50% of it's full potential while the Xbox is already using 100% and when the PS3 begins to use it's full power the Xbox will be a thing of the past...
So if you want to have the best gaming experience now than get the Xbox 360...But if you if thinking in general the PS3 is on the top, even if it may seem expensive it's quite cheap considering of what you get ( just a normal Blueray player cost's 300$-900$)...
So from my point of view the PS3 is on the top, and it wont stop growing...The PS3 is better because:
-Its games lineup pales in comparison to the 360's
-All multiplatform games perform better on the 360
-Its online service is lacking many features and has an inactive community
-It's outsold by the 360 worldwide every week
-It's losing exclusives because it's hard to develop for and doesn't bring in enough profits for developers
-Its games have longer load times and performance issues due to the slow read speeds of the Blu-Ray drive
-It no longer has backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games
-It misses out on game content that comes exclusively to the 360 (Fallout 3 DLC, Grand Theft Auto IV Episodic Content Packs 1 and 2)
-All its games need ridiculously long mandatory installs before they can be played
-Its games sell extremely poorly in every region compared to the 360's games (Gears 2 outsells Resistance 2 seven to one in first week sales; Gears 2 has already, in 2 weeks, sold 2/3 as many copies as MGS4 has in 5 months, etc.)

In my opinion it is not. The "advantages" that the ps3 does have though is that playing online is free compared to the xbox live account you have to buy and also ps3 can play blu-ray. The AV cable works...
the ps3 works i used it with HDMI lead and high def tv...
i wanted to use the ps3 on a small crap TV but the AV cable didn't work...
Any advice ?The PS3 uses the same AV cable, the reason it isn't working is because the PS3 cannot automatically switch from HDMI to AV. When you start up the system with the AV cables plugged in, hold down the power button for like five seconds. Which one should I get for ps3?It depends on what you are looking for.
The games do have similarities, but there are differences as well.
First is location.
Burnout Paradise takes place in the beautiful city of Paradise. That being said, the racing you'll take part in will be in a more urban setting, there will be a lot of outside factors in the races, such as other cars not included in the race. Burnout looks really good. It now has trophies (so you won't have to restart all your hard work like I would have to if I wanted some trophies). I really liked the cars, and the sense of speed was amazing. It also has a good soundtrack.
I haven't played Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, but I do have Motorstorm, and I've read about Pacific Rift. Motorstorm is more of a off road kinda game. It still looks just as beautiful as Burnout Paradise though. The effects work really well, like mud getting on the screen and the crashes. I personally would prefer to watch someone play Motorstorm than actually play it myself. The sense of speed isn't as intense as it is with Burnout Paradise.
If I had to chose, I would go with Burnout Paradise, because I am more a fan of urban racing than off road. Plus, you are meant to crash and take damage in Burnout. I love crashing in the game and trying to cause millions of dollars in damage.
I believe you will have fun with whatever game you chose though.

I mean what is the main difference between the 40gb, 60gb and 80gb.There many big and smaller differences between the many different PS3 SKU's.
With the newer PS3's the only 2 official retail configurations being made (currently) are the 80GB and the 120GB. The difference between these two systems is only the Hard Drive size. There was a 40GB model that had the same specs as these but it is no longer in production.
But some older 80GB models had software PS2 backwards compatibility.
The first two configurations the 60GB and the 20GB had full hardware PS2 backward compatibility. As well as more USB ports. But the 20GB is the only model without built-in Wifi.
The best model by features offered is hands down the 60GB model. If you can get yourself one of those then you have everything the PS3 ever offered, Wifi, flash card readers, SACD support and backwards compatibility. If you think 60GB is too small then upgrade the hard drive on your own. The PS3 is designed to do that. All you need is an SATA notebook harddrive.i have an 80gb,

Every time I turn on my PS3 to play I notice my controller is assigned to slot 2. I have to manually change it to 1 in order to play MGS4 and other one player only games. Why is this happening? It's been that way for about a week.If you have any USB controllers (3rd party, Guitar Hero wireless receiver, etc.) unplug those. I had the same problem the first time I bought my PS3 and found out it was my Guitar Hero wireless receiver was plugged in.
If that isn't your problem, sorry, I don't know what else.This very problem happend to my cusin, He got it fixed but i dont know how he did it. He probably just had an extra controller or accesory plugged in or something.

I just selected us and the hard part come up! U need to put VALID postal code and street adress of what country u selected or it wont accept it! i just writed there New York i googled New York streets and then i found one website with streets! i just putted in 2 or 3 diferent streets and it worked! i removed the playstation 3 logo face plate ( its removable) and spray painted only that part of it with out going over the logo with black paint to cover up the scracthes. before i put it back on it let it dry for a full 24 hoursits possiblethe warrant will be void as in Sonys view u jst defaced the ps3 and all breakages from now on are of no responsabilty to them.

this one comes with the ePSXe program so you don't need to download it).
Usually the download comes with a 'BIN' file and a 'CUE' file. The BIN is the important one. Save the files in the 'PSX ISOs' file in the 'ePSXe' file. Once all is downloaded, right click on the /first part/part one/ of your game and click 'Extract Here'. May take a few minutes for this to extract so be patient.
Open up the ePSXe application; Go to 'File', 'Run ISO'; Then double click on the 'BIN' file you downloaded.
Make sure if you do download a game rom/iso, you download all the files for the game (otherwise it won't work when you start it up).
So far i have Metal Gear Solid 1 (two discs), Tekken 3, Chocobo Racing, Crash: Team Racing, Crash: Trilogy,Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo 2, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2.

I have a SD TV, and do not know if SC4 would work on my TV...for PS3 only...Yes, it will work.
Game companies know that not everyone has a HD TV, so if they made games only in HD, that would eliminate a lot of potential buyers. Sony is also aware that people still have SD, so that's why the PS3 only includes composite cables.why wouldnt it work

or just find a window near a corner, stand in the corner so you can see people on an angle, but no-one can see you strait on or from another angleYou have to find sniping spots on the maps. I haven't played COD4 in a while and don't remember the map names. But, maybe you can ask some people in team deathmatch if you have a headset.
It will take a while to get the the kills. I found it easier on the PC version because I could choose a server that used only three maps and after a little while I had all the snipe spots down.
well you can cheat or you can do it the real way. I would play missions that allow for alot of kills like headquarters or sabotage. find a good spot and snipe the crap out of people.dont cheat. Get a golden sniper or at least jump when you snipe. Put a red dot scope on your sniper and i bet you will kill mad people.Hide in a corner or a place someone can't find you as easy as normal and then shoot 'em! They won't be able to find you. Then once they DO find you, move again.Don't hide in obvious snipong spots, think of something creative. You might try camping if that works.

Seemingly you can but the console doesn't seem to recognize the flash drive usb stick. why is this and is there anything I can do?The USB stick Needs to be formated in FAT32 format, Put in the pc and right click the drive and select properties, this will show what format its in, you can also right click and select FORMAT to change it.
Most come as standard in this format anyway, If the files are MP3's go to the music section if the USB drive is shown, hit triangle and "show all "

And if it's not, they're probably used and not in as good of condition. The best place to go would be Wal-Mart. They are probably cheaper there than at any video game store and they offer a two-year warranty which includes normal wear and tear that you would put on the console. That's two years that you could get it fixed and/or replaced for free if something happens. If you ask me, that's the way to go.Getting a playstation 3 is a good deal and that will cost u round $399 for the 80 GB version. You can find it in Circuit City (where I got mine) and GameStop is a good place too if you are looking for a refurbished system with a lower cost. And if you found a deal for $220 or $180 probably they are not brand new or the seller is not good (not reliable) just look at the seller's review first.

The Internet is Good but i would say 360 "Internet Play" is better.
I wouldn't recommend a used ps3 or 360 because they could be stolen and you get a warranty when you buy it new from Sony.

Because is a good price and if it is defective you can return it immediately and exchange it for a good one. Trough online you would have to deal with shipping, waiting time and no much different price.I bought mine off ebay from a person in my city.
It was unopened because sony had a deal were you get a free ps3 with a HDtv purchase so there were many on ebay.
I paid $520 AUD which is saving a lot in comparison too the store price of $700 AUD.You should be very careful when shopping online. Plenty of scams out there. When something seems too good to be true...it usually is.
